Palisades Hiking Tour
Discover one of Napa Valley's best-kept secrets, far removed from the well-worn tourist path. Calistoga's Palisades are a magnificent mile-long outcropping of volcanic rock overlooking the Napa Valley.
On this guided hike, you'll rise above the valley floor and experience the palisades up close. You'll find the rocky ridgeline is abundant with plant wildlife - besides the most common turkey vultures, red-tail hawks & kestrels, the cliffside is also a known nesting ground for peregrine falcons.
The starting elevation at the trailhead is 2,250 feet. From there, novice hikers can enjoy an easy 4-mile roundtrip excursion to Table Rock (2,465 feet), the first lookout point offering up dramatic views of the valley outstretched below.
Conditioned hikers can venture past Table Rock to the southern edge of the Palisades for an 8-mile roundtrip. After Table Rock, the trail descends to (2,045 feet) before climbing the two miles along the base of the dramatic cliffs to reach the southern edge (2,930 feet).
A gourmet deli box lunch is included and will be served along the trail.
